Visa introduces a suite of new products and services for APAC

Friday 8 November 2024 09:42 CET | News

Multinational payment card services corporation Visa has announced the launch of a suite of new products and services for the Asia Pacific region.

By rolling out the series of products, Visa aims to further improve cards and address the upcoming needs, preferences, and demands of businesses, merchants, consumers, and the financial institutions that serve them. The move comes due to a rapidly evolving payment landscape, with Visa intending to deliver capabilities that optimise payment experiences across the Asia Pacific region with scaled flexibility, security, and convenience. Representatives from the company mentioned their commitment to meeting the progressing requirements of both consumers and merchants while ensuring that transactions remain safe and simplified.

The announcement comes just days after Visa expanded its QR cross-border payments, with the company partnering with several providers to enable consumers to leverage their digital wallets for point-of-sale QR payments when travelling abroad. Initially beginning in Singapore, the pilot program was set to see additional rollouts across the region in 2025. The initiative focused on allowing users of prevalent digital wallet apps to scan QR codes at merchants both locally and internationally.

Visa’s new products and services

With the rollout planned to start across Asia Pacific, Visa’s suite of new products and capabilities includes:
  • Visa Flexible Credential, which enables a single card product to toggle between payment methods. The solution allows consumers to set parameters or decide whether they want to leverage debit, credit, pay-in-four with instalments, or pay with reward points, via the single Visa credential;

  • Visa’s improved wallet payment experience, with the company supporting consumers in using their everyday wallets to scan and pay at any merchant that accepts Visa through scanning-enabled QR codes at businesses located across their domestic markets;

  • Visa Payment Passkey, which is developed on Fast Identity Online (FIDO) standards, allows individuals to verify and authenticate their identity and authorise online transactions by scanning their biometrics, such as face or fingerprint. This mitigates the need for passwords or one-time codes;

  • Click to Pay supports consumers in completing online transactions more conveniently, with them only needing to register their email, phone number, or Visa Payment Passkey;

  • Visa data tokens allow individuals to control their information and receive optimised shopping experiences enabled by AI. At the same time, merchants’ AI models can leverage this token to provide real-time recommendations;

  • Visa Protect for Account-to-Account (A2A) Payments was developed to detect and minimise fraud across immediate A2A payments, including P2P digital wallets and QR code payments.
