Vietnam Airlines initially teamed up with Adyen in 2017 for its gateway solution and, in 2024, worked with the company to utilise its global acquiring capabilities and support optimal payment experiences in several markets, including Japan, Australia, the US, and Europe, among others.
Now, through the single integration with Adyen, the airline is set to deliver more efficient transactions in credit cards and selected local payment methods such as Alipay and WeChat Pay. With Adyen’s acquiring capabilities, Vietnam Airlines can connect to Visa and Mastercard card schemes, benefiting from local market conditions and generating scaled authorisation rates and minimised transaction fees. According to its data, since expanding its collaboration with Adyen, Vietnam Airlines has witnessed up to a 5% increase in authorisation rates.
Furthermore, commenting on the news, representatives from Vietnam Airlines mentioned that solidifying the partnership with Adyen supports their company’s digital transformation. Additionally, through Adyen’s global reach and its payment solutions, the airline can provide travellers with a secure and flexible payment experience, integrating major card networks and emerging payment methods. By joining forces, the two companies plan to optimise the passenger journey while increasing operational efficiency and advancing development.
Since the start of 2025, Adyen has been focusing its efforts on further expanding its reach and capabilities, either by entering new partnerships or extending existing ones. Just before its announcement regarding Vietnam Airlines, Adyen teamed up with Temu, allowing the latter to enter additional markets while maintaining a comprehensive overview of transactions across different regions.
Before this, Adyen integrated CoverManager to facilitate automation and centralisation of payments for businesses, while also optimising the customer experience and supporting financial management. At that time, the move was set to bring several benefits for users, including secure and optimal transactions for restaurants, mitigation of no-shows by requesting a payment in advance, real-time synchronisation, and detailed reports and analysis.
