Per the press release, Nexi Central Europe, providing acquiring services supported by Softpay, enables Dotykacka to introduce SoftPOS payment solutions throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Being a provider of acquiring for Central European countries, Nexi’s extensive expertise in payment processing and its strong presence in the financial services industry were essential in enabling the partnership.
Softpay provides a rapid and user-friendly method to initiate contactless payment acceptance on Android-based devices, and the solution can be downloaded from Google Play and used both in standalone mode and through versatile integration options. When commenting on the announcement, company officials said that the expansion of the SoftPOS tech to the Czech Republic and Slovakia marks a milestone for Softpay. Per their statement, their primary objective is to provide businesses in these regions with accessible and efficient contactless payment acceptance solutions that have no requirement for specific hardware.
The Czech Republic’s payment landscape
The collaboration comes at a time when the payment industry is undergoing significant shifts, with market research revealing that over two-thirds (67%) of consumers in the Czech Republic prefer to conduct transactions exclusively through non-cash methods, which showcases the increasing importance of digital payment solutions. Softpay enables any Android device to act as a payment terminal, providing more flexibility and bettering customer interactions.

A Denmark-based payment company, Softpay has developed a SoftPOS or Tap-to-phone solution that accepts contactless cards and mobile wallet payments free of dedicated hardware. Leveraging the embedded NFC chip, the solution turns any Android mobile phone into a contactless payment terminal. The Tap-to-phone solution is approved by Visa, Mastercard and Dankort and has been live since November 2021.
