Japan-based JCB has expanded its partnership with Stripe to increase ecommerce merchant acceptance in Europe, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Through this collaboration, the two companies intend to provide new growth opportunities for all of Stripe’s ecommerce merchants by accepting JCB’s cardmembers. According to JCB’s officials, Stripe’s global presence and its technological solutions intend to support ecommerce merchants that require secure and fast transactions. The partnership allows the two companies to provide additional payment options to JCB’s cardmembers. Representatives from Stripe stated that the collaboration aims to improve the way global businesses sell to customers in Japan and across Asia.

Japan-based JCB has expanded its partnership with Stripe to increase ecommerce merchant acceptance in Europe, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Since the beginning of their partnership in 2018, JCB and Stripe worked together to expand their operations into other regions, including the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, among others. At that time, the two companies established a global partnership aiming to offer JCB brand acceptance to all internet merchants using the Stripe payment platform. The agreement enabled JCB brand acceptance at merchants using Stripe’s payment solutions in any local currency around the world. Also, Stripe merchants could access a wide range of consumers, while JCB cardmembers could purchase products and services from Stripe merchants.

Past developments from Stripe

Recently, TrueLayer joined Stripe’s Payment Element for Open Banking payments to allow the latter’s merchants operating in the UK and the EU to offer TrueLayer as a payment method for their customers. The Stripe Payment Element is a user interface component that can be integrated into checkout pages, being currently leveraged by several merchants globally. The solution facilitates the display of relevant payment options for customers and the collection of necessary transaction data.

During the same period, Curious integrated Stripe’s payment solutions for NFTs and digital content. Through this, Curious can provide a simple, secure, and global commerce environment for creators to directly monetise their content with the additional security of blockchain technology.
