Through this partnership, Wizz Air will gain access to more than 150 payment methods and currencies, multi-acquiring, tokenisation, and fraud prevention services, all through a single reporting and settlement channel.
According to Worldline, TravelHub can help airlines create an invisible payment experience with local methods and currencies that helps increase conversion for direct sales. Local payment processing and solutions help airlines optimise the costs of transaction processing. Other services provided by Worldline include in-store and online commercial acquiring, secure payment transaction processing and various digital services.
Wizz Air can tap into Worldline’s solutions to offset and mitigate the risks and challenges that have emerged in recent years across the sector. For instance, Worldline’s multi-acquiring services can help create a platform to manage and mitigate risk for Wizz Air in the future.
Wizz Air representatives have stated in the company press release that they aim to build a robust and flexible payment infrastructure with the goal of supporting a seamless payment processing and customer experience for their customers and supporting payment and finance processes.
Worldline officials emphasised how the TravelHub payment solution, complemented by an experienced team of payment experts, could help Wizz Air in its growth and expansion plans.
In August 2022, Wizz Air has partnered with Sweden-based fintech Trustly to allow customers to pay for flights directly from their bank account. As part of this collaboration, Wizz Air was able to tap into Trustly’s collection model, which offers fast settlement, reduced fraud, and instant refunds for travellers. The solution also provided Wizz Air with more flexibility in its payments infrastructure.
The airline’s officials stated that for them, Trustly was the obvious choice to provide a low-cost, simple, and secure way for their customers to pay. They described the long-term partnership with Trustly as a way to further strengthen their low-cost value proposition to customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, the UK, and Sweden.
According to a Trustly report, 71% of airlines are now actively exploring implementing an account-to-account payment option. These payments complement traditional card payments, offering customers more choices while reducing friction at checkout.
