Unlimit expands in Kenya

Wednesday 7 June 2023 08:48 CET | News

Global fintech company Unlimit (previously known as Unlimint) has expanded its services into the Kenyan market, after receiving a Central Bank of Kenya licence.

Following this expansion, Unlimit aims to strengthen its overall presence in the African market, offering clients and businesses secure and efficient payment solutions in order to improve their overall development process. These include comprehensive merchant analytics, a customer-friendly interface, as well as the needed requirements of security protocols.

The company’s focus will set on meeting the needs, preferences, and demands of its Kenyan customers while respecting local compliance rules. By receiving the licence from the Central Bank of Kenya, Unlimit will be allowed to offer its payment methods and services in a more efficient and secure manner.

Unlimit’s strategy of development

The UK-based global fintech company Unlimit offers multiple payment methods and capabilities via an evolving financial interface, to startups and businesses across the world. The firm had several product launches and partnerships in the last couple of months, expanding in different geographical regions across the globe.

Unlimit announced its expansion plans into Nigeria in April 2023, following the receipt of its Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Based on the details given in the press release published at the time, the company was able to activate as a recognised payment service provider in the region following this expansion. This enabled its possibility to deliver an extensive range of payment services and solutions that were set to assist local businesses in the process of developing their reach to local and global audiences alike.

The fintech industry in Nigeria had consistent growth in the last couple of years, prompting companies and firms to recognise the importance of offering their users diverse payment methods and services. Unlimit focused on providing its partners and customers with solutions that were designed to meet the needs and demands of the Nigerian market, by using its experience and expertise in the global payment space.

Earlier in February 2023, Unlimit expanded its alternative payment methods portfolio with the addition of Mercado Pago, a Brazil-based online payment solution. The partnership was aimed to give Unlimit’s merchants the possibility to expand to Brazil and offer local clients multiple payment options and methods, regardless of where they operate around the globe.

By adding Mercado Pago to its payment portfolio, Unlimit focused on improving the way clients gained a larger market share, as well as increasing conversion rates, whenever operating within the Brazilian ecommerce area. The product was leveraged to enable secure online payments and transactions, by using the Mercado Pago e-wallet at the checkout point. This also provided payout capabilities for a safe funds transfer between the merchants and the clients.
