The Netherlands-headquartered fintech PayU has announced that its patent for improving payments routing and approval has been accepted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The concept technology was created by Zooz, a company that was acquired by PayU in 2018, which makes the latter to own the rights of this technology that aims to simplify end-user experience and optimise transactions made through PayU’s payment hub.

The company’s smart routing engine has been used by customers since 2016 and is constantly improving to provide over 100 routing configurations to provide a better customer experience.

By using the technology, merchants can route payments according to the credit card issuer, as well as the geographical area where the card was issued, or the payment was made. The conveyed data recorded can later be used to route payments to optimal end-destinations and increase approval rates.

In addition, PayU customers can add and remove payment methods and change transactions routing configurations in real time, allowing for flexibility, adjustment, and maximisation of ROI and approval rates.
