Wix has unveiled 'Tap to Pay on Android' as a part of its ongoing collaboration with payment processing company Stripe. This development aims to simplify in-person commercial transactions for merchants based in the United States, and it builds upon the previous launch of 'Tap to Pay on iPhone. Wix now allows its merchants to securely accept contactless payments directly through their Android devices, eliminating the need for additional hardware.
In essence, the Wix Owner App transforms compatible Android devices into Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals. By leveraging Wix's secure POS software, merchants gain the ability to conduct face-to-face business transactions at any location and time, offering their customers a straightforward and contactless checkout experience. Customers can utilise credit cards, debit cards, Google Pay, and various digital wallets to confidently and conveniently finalise their product purchases.
In the company press release, representatives from Stripe talked about Stripe’s Tap to Pay on Android product and its track record of facilitating contactless payments for millions of businesses around the world. They also expressed their excitement to partner with Wix to provide an easy, cost-effective, no-code way to accept payments for more entrepreneurs.
Officials from Wix Payments talked about the expanded partnership with Stripe. They also highlighted the system's ability to enable merchants to turn their Android devices into POS terminals and embrace the future of contactless payments. The 'Tap to Pay on Android' feature is accessible to US-based Wix Payments merchants using Wix for ecommerce, bookings, and events solutions, provided they have compatible devices.
