Klarna partners with Aldi for purchase on account

Tuesday 1 June 2021 15:21 CET | News

Germany-based supermarket Aldi’s online shop has announced partnering with payment provider Klarna to offer users a purchase on account payment option.

This allows users to pay for purchased items at a later time. Customers can select products at home and receive an email from Klarna with all the relevant payment information after the goods have been shipped. From then on the customer has 14 days to pay the invoice for their order by bank transfer and at no additional cost. If the buyer has a Klarna account, they can also pay the bill via the Klarna app.

To use this function, customers must place the items they want in the online shopping cart and select ‘Klarna invoice’ as the payment method at checkout. It is also possible to pause a payment at any time for returns. In this case, the return must be noted via the Klarna app and the invoice will be paused until processing has been completed. Once Aldi receives the returned goods, the user will receive updated payment information from Klarna by email.
