SIX and Snowflake have launched an integration to give joint customers direct access to regulatory and reference financial data within Snowflake's cloud environment.
The partnership is designed to reduce operational complexity for financial institutions by eliminating manual data inputs and streamlining the flow of financial information across business functions, from risk and compliance to investment strategies and product development.
The move comes as financial institutions face growing cross-jurisdictional tax and reporting obligations. SIX has pointed specifically to compliance with the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) as a driver of demand for more efficient data delivery. As regulatory data governance requirements continue to evolve, direct cloud-native access to structured financial datasets is increasingly seen as a means of reducing the compliance burden.
With this in mind, through the integration clients will gain zero-copy access to SIX datasets, including end-of-day market data for valuations, reference data, and regulatory data, directly within Snowflake. Snowflake's secure data-sharing and governance architecture underpins the delivery, allowing institutions to connect this data with AI and analytics applications already running in their cloud environment.
Operational and strategic implications
For financial institutions operating across multiple jurisdictions, the ability to consolidate trusted data sources within a single governed environment carries practical value. Rather than managing separate data pipelines or relying on manual processes, clients can redirect resources toward analysis and decision-making.
The integration also positions both companies within a broader trend of financial data providers moving toward cloud-native distribution. Moreover, embedding financial data directly within platforms such as Snowflake reduces friction in the data supply chain and supports faster deployment of analytics and AI-driven workflows.
SIX operates across financial information services and market infrastructure. Snowflake's platform serves clients across industries, with financial services representing a significant segment of its customer base in the EMEA region and beyond.
