Pan-African fintech that focuses on logistics service and payments, Jumia, has partnered with multinational global shipping company UPS to grow its reach on the African continent.
UPS will leverage Jumia’s network across Africa and access the ecommerce company’s last-mile delivery infrastructure to scale business and expand into new locations.
Through the strategic partnership, UPS clients can pickup or drop off packages to be sent across the globe at any of Jumia’s stations in Nigeria, Kenya, or Morocco but the US-based company plans to expand the service to additional African markets, including Ghana, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda, and South Africa.
Founded in 2012, Jumia partnered with over 600 last-minute delivery companies and small logistics firms to expand its reach on the continent and provide quality shipping services. Currently, it counts for over 3,000 pickup stations spread across 11 markets in Africa, which will not be leveraged by UPS to grow its global expansion.
