TikTok is testing in-app shopping with streetwear brand Hype

ByteDance, the maker of video app TikTok, has started to test in-app shopping features in Europe.

According to Retail Customer Experience, the initiative comes as social media giants, including Facebook and Instagram, are striving to tap into the growing number of mobile device consumers and their love of online shopping. 

Consequently, TikTok has started testing the ecommerce feature with Hype, a streetwear brand. However, the solution is provided to certain participants and there is no information regarding a formal launch.

Overall, by integrating ecommerce into its video platform, TikTok might reach more consumers, as the number of US-based TikTok users will increase 18.3% in 2021, hitting a user base of 78.7 million, Retail Customer Experience stated.
