According to New Straits Times, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA) has launched the Buatan Malaysia Campaign on Shopee, as part of the national Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia (KBBM). The renewed partnership between the MDTCA and Shopee is following the success from the 2019 campaign, which had an average daily order of Malaysian-made products on the platform increased by 330%.
Therefore, the launch of the in-app portal comes to increase the results from the previous campaign and features the Jalur Gemilang (flag of Malaysia), which can be spotted on the homepage of both the Shopee App and website. Additionally, Shopee joins forces with the public sector to provide special weekly discounts, cashback, and free shipping vouchers.
Overall, when Shopee first ran the campaign in 2019, the platform only had 2,300 made-in-Malaysia SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) in the microsite. However, in 2020, the company plans to expand it, as the Buatan Malaysia Campaign on Shopee has over 11,500 products at this moment, New Straits Times reported.
