Lazada steps into the Singaporean market

Lazada, an ecommerce subsidiary of the German firm Rocket Internet, has launched the Singaporean version of its online store, straitstimes.com reports.

The online store sells products such as clothes and home appliances, the same source reports.

In 2013, Chinese ecommerce companies tapped into the local market. E-tailer Jingdong and the online marketplace Taobao are among such industry players.

In early 2014, the Japanese ecommerce platform Rakuten lauched its services in Singapore.
