Australia: Independent Reserve opens Bitcoin exchange

Tuesday 21 October 2014 00:56 CET | News

Independent Reserve, a Bitcoin-based financing company, has launched a Bitcoin exchange in Australia (Sidney), theage.com.au reports.

Unlike the two main Australian-based stock exchanges, Independent Reserve is not regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), which means the company has had to take investor protection into its own hands.

In recent news, Sam Dastyari, an Australian Labour Senator, has warned Australian banks that a neutral position to Bitcoin adoption is not a wise decision, smh.com.au reports.
