MFS Africa acquires Global Technology Partners

Tuesday 7 June 2022 12:05 CET | News

Africa-based digital payments network MFS Africa has announced it acquired US tech company Global Technology Partners.

GTP is the largest processor for prepaid cads in Africa, counting for over 80 banks, with several names, including Ecobank, Bia, Coris, and Zenith Bank, using its services. GTP’s clients come from 34 countries and are fully connected to the largest card processing schemes, including Visa, Mastercard, and Verve.

The agreement between the two companies enables MFS Africa to further expand its offering to the continent’s increasing gig economy, the travel market, and millions of potential other clients who use cards to make digital payments. Moreover, MSF Africa will increase its bank and fintech client base and will provide tokenization for the mobile money world by connecting with traditional car scheme ecosystems like Visa and Mastercard.

Following GTP’s acquisition, the African enterprise is looking to further invest in the tech company’s current card programmes with banks and provide innovation and new business possibilities.
