Zetes to deploy e-signature technology in Belgian IDs

The first contract, signed for a period of ten years, allows Zetes to produce and personalise eID, KidsID, residence permits and similar documents. The second one states that the company will issue the authentication and signature certificates contained in these same documents. This allows the identity of document-bearer to be verified in an electronic transaction, and gives legal status to the documents signed using eID.

The eID cards contain a contactless chip, from which personal data can be safely shared using Zetes’ public key infrastructure (PKI). This fact permits the cards to be used as travel documents. The company also issues eHealth certificates, to permit healthcare service providers to interact with the eHealth platform.

Zetes has launched ZetesConfidens portfolio of e-signature products as well. As required by Europe’s eIDAS regulation, the launch enables the certificates to be recognized as issued by a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP).
