Western Union partners with GraceKennedy and Lynk Mobile Wallets

As per the information detailed in the press release, Western Union integrated GraceKennedy’s GKOne mobile application, as well as Lynk mobile wallet, in a bid to offer customers in Jamaica an improved remittance experience. As of the announcement, Jamaicans can access Western Union money transfer services via GraceKennedy’s GKOne mobile wallet app and Lynk’s mobile wallet app, providing customers with the option to receive funds digitally.

US-based money transfer service Western Union has announced the integration of GraceKennedy’s GKOne mobile application and Lynk mobile wallet.

Through this, individuals receive instant access to funds globally, with the inclusion of the two Jamaican mobile wallets complementing the nearly 200 Western Union retail locations across the region, and the direct-to-bank account service available to receive funds.

How will the partnership support Jamaicans?

As remittances transferred to the island offer essential financial support and are a contributor to Jamaica’s economy, Western Union, GraceKennedy, and Lynk share a commitment to increase consumer access to digital financial services. The current move, in which Western Union’s global money transfer solutions are integrated into GKOne and Lynk, enables customers to receive additional choice, convenience, and speed at which they can receive cross-border payments. According to GraceKennedy’s officials, the company intends to facilitate the advancement of financial technology and customer service. Also, the initiative aligns with GK’s allegiance to offering value and efficiency to its customers across Jamaica and the broader Caribbean region.

Furthermore, Western Union’s representatives underlined that GraceKennedy’s solution supports their company’s digital expansion strategy via the launch of the GKOne app and enables it to include Lynk and its mobile wallet in its network. The connections are set to ensure that the company continues meeting the needs of its customers. Additionally, by delivering an alternative to traditional banking and cash pickups, the partnership represents a step provided by Western Union and GraceKennedy toward increasing financial inclusion in Jamaica, fostering accessibility to services across a broader customer base, including those in remote areas.

Officials from Lynk highlighted that the company seeks to provide customers simplified access to the money they receive from abroad using its app, currently improved via its collaboration with GraceKennedy and Western Union. The expanding adoption of the Lynk mobile wallet by Jamaicans represents a significant advancement in transforming the remittance experience.
