According to the press release, new cardmembers will enjoy a limited time sign-up bonus of 20,000 MileagePlus miles when spending USD 1,000 in the first three months to enjoy for future travel plans. Overall, the United Gateway Card offers cardholders robust opportunities to earn rewards, including three miles for every USD 1 spent on grocery store purchases through 30 September 2021.
Additionally, cardholders will earn two miles for every USD 1 spent on United purchases, gas, and local transit and commuting such as mass transit, rideshare services, and taxis, making the United Gateway Card perfect for all travel needs both in the air and on the ground. Customers will also earn one mile per USD 1 spent on all other purchases, 25% back as a statement credit on in-flight United purchases of food, beverages, and Wi-Fi, with no foreign transaction fees.
Moreover, consumers currently holding the United TravelBank Card and select United MileagePlus cards will be transitioned to the new United Gateway Card. Existing TravelBank customers, once transitioned to the new United Gateway Card, will earn miles instead of TravelBank Cash. Miles can be redeemed for flights as well as for restaurants, merchandise, and hotel rooms, along with many other options through the MileagePlus programme.
In addition, the 2X bonus categories have been increased from United-only purchases to now include gas stations and local transit and commuting. United MileagePlus Cardmembers, once transitioned to the new United Gateway Card, will now receive additional key benefits with the United Gateway Card such as no annual fee, unlimited mileage earning, and more.
