Version 2.0 of the versatile NCR NeighborhoodPOS application software and the new NCR RealPOS 30 terminal are offered through a nationwide network of NCR RealPartner authorized dealers and resellers. The terminal, which will be available for customer shipments in late May, can also be purchased separately from the integrated solution and is offered through direct as well as indirect channels. Designed for value-conscious retailers, NCRs software and hardware have been created from the ground up to meet retail management requirements, withstand the rigors of harsh store environments and provide superior total cost of ownership. Versatile, Open-Architecture Software Supporting either a touchscreen or traditional keyboard-and-display interface, NCR NeighborhoodPOS is a Microsoft Windows-based application providing an open retail POS system that is easily supported yet flexible and powerful. In addition to meeting the checkout and bar-code scanning needs of many different types of general retail stores, the multipurpose software is equally adept at handling food service POS. Templates make it possible to quickly replicate a setup for operations with multiple checkouts or multiple stores. With more than 5,000 parameters, or predefined functions, NCR NeighborhoodPOS is easy to install and modify for an almost unlimited variety of store formats and business processes. Data consolidation and reporting are provided by an optional Managers WorkStation application in the store and a Corporate WorkStation at chain headquarters. These tools provide store and chainwide data consolidation, management and reporting and allow managers to update the software parameters, including the price files. Investment Protection with Compact, Flexible Terminals The value-priced NCR RealPOS 30 provides the reliability and security of a retail-hardened POS terminal with the performance and flexibility of industry-standard PC technology. Offering a compact, space-saving design, the NCR RealPOS 30 can be configured as a diskless thin-client or full-function disk-based POS system. It provides interfaces for serial- and USB-based retail peripherals and includes a powered printer port for improved cable management. With an open, standards-based design, the NCR RealPOS 30 supports the latest POS applications for Windows or Linux®. It includes a powerful Intel processor and is built around industry-standard embedded components for a stable POS platform and extended lifecycle. Retailers can choose from an extensive list of printers, keyboards and bar-code scanners, as well as a touchscreen operator interface or multiple keyboard-and-display combinations.
