JBM Electronics Enhances Its Gateway Product Line

This capability helps reduce bandwidth usage, providing significant savings by minimizing the cost of cell carrier plans. Furthermore, the application information is quickly transferred to the terminal over the local connection, bringing the terminal back online faster. Today, many ATM and POS terminals require the host processor to download the latest application software, screen formats and messages when the terminal powers on or after exception conditions. Since these downloads do not frequently change, the time and bandwidth needed for the transfer of this information is an extra expense. The new Gateway application stores this information in non-volatile memory and services the application request locally. The Linux-based Gateway C100, C200 and C300 families support this new capability. The C100 and C300 Series provide async serial or dial-only terminal support to Ethernet. The C200 Series add support for CDMA or GSM cell networks.
