Wirecard announces upgraded mobile in-app payment SDKs

Thursday 7 March 2019 10:57 CET | News

Wirecard has announced the introduction of upgraded software development kits (SDKs) for mobile in-app payments.

The new mobile payment SDK libraries for iOS and Android were created to enable merchants to integrate in-app payment options more easily as well as facilitate PCI compliance.

Global mobile app revenues are expected to grow from USD 88 billion in 2016 to USD 189 billion in 2020, with shopping being the fastest growing mobile app category based on average consumer usage time – according to the press release. By offering in-app payment, merchants can benefit from these trends and streamline the omnichannel customer experience.

Wirecard considers that mobile in-app payments represent one of the pillars of future growth as currently only 1–2% of all transactions worldwide are fully digital. The upgraded SDKs are expected to reduce the effort of integrating in-app payments into their mobile apps.

Earlier in 2019, Wirecard has announced the release of its Virtual Express solution providing access to digital funds, designed specifically for mobile wallets.
