Lewis, a recognized POS Industry senior executive for over 30 years, brings to WAY Systems a vast amount of industry experience in both private and publicly held companies. Lewis overall responsibilities will be to build the infrastructure of the company to develop and support the products and services offered by WAY North American Group through its Independent Sales Organizations Channel, Payment Processors Alliances and WAY Major Accounts Services Group, as well as propagating its Deployment Support and Professional Services Groups. Lewis began his payment industry career with Texaco Credit Card Division as Operations Manager, and later as Vice President of Credit Card Services for National Data Corporation where he led initiatives to promote NDCs products and services for the bank credit card industry. Lewis also played a role in the payment terminals market for NDC, creating the National Electronic Transaction System (NETS), the nations first retail POS system in the United States. As a founding executive with VeriFone, Lewis served in a number of executive positions during the companys startup phase and was eventually appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager for North America. For more than a decade, Lewis contributed to VeriFones success and eventual IPO, growing revenues beyond $150 million making it the worlds largest POS terminal manufacturer. Lewis also served as President & CEO of Checkmate Inc., where he led the management team that delivered the industrys first and most successful signature capture terminal, the enTouch 1000. Checkmate eventually grew to be the third-largest POS manufacturer in North America.
