Walmart Canada partners Western Union for money transfers

The new digital offering provides customers with a multitude of ways to send money worldwide in a convenient manner, while simultaneously enabling them to save time and money, as the service has low everyday fees. Furthermore, the companies are also set to extend their retail agreement to offer in-store money transfer capabilities.

As per information provided in the press release, the companies have also announced an extension to their retail relationship, prolonging customers’ ability to make use of Western Union’s money transfer services in Walmart stores for 5% lower than the consumer fee rate that has been nationally published for Western Union branded consumer-to-consumer transactions. 

Following this announcement, Walmart Canada gives customers the option of carrying out activities of the likes of sending a gift to someone living out of province, or newcomers to Canada sending money to overseas’ family, in an easy and cost-effective manner. 

Walmart Canada company representatives, when commenting on the collaboration, have advised that the company is looking to scale new partnerships and invest in omnichannel solutions that are designed to further financial inclusion and provide increasingly diverse ways to serve their customers. Following the launch of the online money transfer service, Walmart offers customers more choice, convenience, and access to financial services that are affordable to connect with family and friends all over the globe, enabling them to save so that they have a better way of living. 

Walmart and Western Union have been collaborating at a global scale, providing money transfer services in Walmart stores across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Western Union North America officials advised that the two enterprises share a common commitment of putting the customers first, offering their services across both bricks and mortar and digital channels to enable the delivery of an improved experience. 

By having extended the agreement and included the new online offering, Western Union gives the collective customer base access to their services across a multitude of channels, offering them increased access to their global cross-border money transfer and payments platform.
