New York State Department of Social Services (NYDSS) has awarded Viisage a contract to continue producing secure identification cards through 2004.

The new $1.6 million contract comes at the close of a nine-year contract granted by the NYDSS to GTECH Corporation. Viisage is acting as subcontractor to GTECH. The NYDSS is another in a long list of state agencies that have benefited from Viisages identity solutions, including departments of corrections, departments of social services, foreign government agencies, and 16 U.S. state departments of motor vehicles. Since 1994, Viisage has delivered more than 135 million secure digital-identification documents through 1,625 systems. Through the NYDSS program, Viisage has produced between 1.5 and 2 million composite cards annually. The contract award is one of many extended and renewed relationships between Viisage and its customer base. Viisages renewal and extension rate has been a testament to the Companys exceptional reputation for providing state-of-the-art secure identification solutions and builds on the Companys success in this market. The NYDSS contract has produced $14.8 million in revenue over the course of the relationship. The project includes two sites in New York and a backup system at Viisage for data replication. The data replication feature was designed specifically for the NYDSS to ensure the maximum system availability for the citizens of New York and to protect against any threats that might otherwise devastate the system.
