Vidio launches direct carrier billing with Fortumo

Tuesday 1 October 2019 11:01 CET | News

Fortumo and Indonesia-based streaming platform Vidio have signed a direct carrier billing partnership in Indonesia.

Due to this agreement, more than 140 million subscribers of Indosat Ooredoo, 3, XL Axiata and Smartfren can subscribe to Vidio Premier and charge payments for the service to their mobile operator invoice.

Vidio launched direct carrier billing in Indonesia through Fortumo’s Hosted DCB product, which gives digital merchants access to all of Fortumo’s direct integrations with mobile operators. At the same time, Fortumo hosts the checkout flows, which are localised and compliant with each telco’s requirements.

According to the press release, in Indonesia, less than 3% of people have a credit card and less than 50% have an account with a financial institution. At the same time, smartphone ownership in the country is already at 60% (153 million users), meaning that a large number of consumers are able to access online services but are unable to pay for premium content.
