Verifone taps Percona for multi-database management

US-based fintech Verifone has engaged Percone to provide support for its MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.

Verifone provides eCommerce and card-present payment solutions to retail brands, financial institutions, and millions of merchants worldwide. The brand has a footprint of more than 30 million devices in over 150 countries.

Percona company officials stated that when one works across three different databases, processing more than ten billion transactions each year, he needs a vendor that understands each system and how they interrelate with the business. Their in-house subject matter specialists will provide Verifone with centralised and consolidated support, facilitating them reduce their database management costs and address future challenges.

As part of the agreement, Percona will help Verifone migrate from three individual database technologies to Percona’s own MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL open source software, resulting in augmented cost efficiencies and database management.
