US Department of State Selects Precise Biometrics

Tuesday 5 October 2004 11:19 CET | News

Precise Biometrics has received two follow-up orders for the US Department of State by the end of September, worth about MSEK 1,3 in total.

Like the initial order, the follow-up orders are part of a project with the objective to increase computer network security throughout the US government agency. The orders for Precise Biometrics combined fingerprint and smart card readers were received in cooperation with one of Precise Biometrics US partners within the information security software segment. The combined fingerprint and smart card readers are optimized for Precise Biometrics Precise Match-on-Card technology, which makes it possible to store and match fingerprints directly on a smart card, instead of in a less secure environment such as a computer. The use of smart identification devices are proving to be a vital link in the chain of trust for both commercial organizations and government agencies. When combined with biometrics, smart cards offer great advantages for both physical and logical security. The combined fingerprint and smart card readers from Precise Biometrics were delivered within the third quarter.
