United Bank for Africa (UBA) has officially been unveiled in the UK as it seeks to tap into the African and European corporate markets.

According to the bank, it is the first and only Sub-Saharan African financial institution with banking operations in both the US and UK.

UBA sees itself as a “gateway” for European corporates and institutions to access Africa via its network.

In January 2018, the bank unveiled its Facebook-compatible chatbot Leo. Functionality includes money transfers, bank alerts, and mini-bank statements.
