Determination by International Trade Commission Terminates Investigation of Trintech into US Importation of Certain Point of Sale Terminals

Trintech, a leading provider of transaction reconciliation and payment infrastructure solutions, has been dismissed from a US International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation relating to the importation of certain Point of Sale (POS) terminals into the US. The ITC investigation was instituted based on a complaint by Verve, LLC, dated September 3, 2004, which claimed that Trintech, amongst others, had imported certain POS terminals into the US which infringed a US patent held by Verve. On November 29, 2004, the ITC issued a decision not to review an earlier determination by an administrative law judge of the ITC which found that there was no evidence of importation of the allegedly infringing POS terminals by Trintech into the US. This decision effectively means that the ITCs investigation of Trintech in this matter has come to a close.
