The value of the transaction is approximately €3m. Among the projected aims is the support of comprehensive care of patients in accordance with the National Health Project. In the first phase, the system will be deployed in Mikkeli Central Hospital and Moisio Hospital as well as in the healthcare centre, occupational healthcare and home care services of the City of Mikkeli. In the future, other healthcare centres in the region will also have the option to join the regional system. Etelä-Savo Hospital District provides specialised health care services primarily to the 106,000 inhabitants of the twelve municipalities in the region. Besides cost savings, a joint system also has benefits for the patient. When, for example, the patients examination data is flexibly available in different treatment institutions, the patient no longer needs to have the same examinations carried out several times in different locations. We are implementing an end-to-end solution to enhance the capabilities of basic healthcare to serve citizens with fewer hospital visits. TietoEnators system stood out from the other options available as the one with the highest degree of completion. The system was also compliant with our current radiology and laboratory systems, says Raimo Kuikka, IT Manager, Etelä-Savo Hospital District.
