Thyron Systems release Chip&SIM

Sunday 4 July 2004 11:50 CET | News

Thyron Systems has launched Chip&SIM, an out of the box solution for any retailer that requires accredited Chip and PIN solutions, that demand mobility, portability, ease of integration and fast transaction times for their EFT card processing.

At the heart of the Chip&SIM is Thyrons PayCell MPT500 payment terminal that connects to the Banking authorisation systems across fast wireless networks such as GPRS. Chip&SIM provides a level of flexibility with regard to the retailer areas that it could be deployed in, but more importantly using packet data networks such as GPRS, transaction times are equivalent to X:25 integrated solutions that exist today. The PayCell MPT500 is one of the smallest, lightest, portable transaction terminals of its type in the market place. With exceptional battery performance, it is at home used in mobile payment applications, pay-at-table scenarios in Hospitality, or fixed to specially designed stands in normal retail outlets. Because it is wire free the Chip&SIM solution provides total flexibility in terms of deployment in any retail outlet and can be moved easily into any point of sale area quickly to facilitate any operational requirements for card processing. By adopting Chip&SIM any retailer wanting to migrate quickly to Chip and PIN can be assured of a quick solution that can be non-integrated. The same hardware can then be utilised later on to fully integrate to their Epos hardware when time and budgets allow. This way the retailer is assured of meeting the January 2005 compliance date, but can adopt a migration path to a fully integrated solution later.
