Users are already choosing digital ticketing as a suitable option to buy tickets for transport, sports events, concerts, and other entertainment shows.
According to data from Telecoming, by the end of 2019, there will be more than 1,780 million users using electronic devices to buy or access services that require a ticket. That figure will reach 2,236 million users in five years.
Other key findings:
in Europe, about 430 million users will turn to digital ticketing in 2019, growing y-o-y by 7% to reach 593 million in 2023;
Europe will represent 26% of online ticketing users worldwide;
four countries concentrate 36% of digital ticketing users in Europe: UK (49 million), Spain (39 million), France (36 million) and Germany (33 million);
the global turnover of the digital ticketing market will exceed EUR 627 billion in 2019;
digital ticketing transactions value in the UK reaches EUR 21,528 million, followed by Germany (EUR 15,173 million), France (EUR 11,073 million), and Spain (EUR 9,143 million);
by 2023, Europeans will spend around EUR 178 billion in digital ticketing and the market will surpass EUR 775 billion worldwide;
the volume of transactions in this market is expected to increase from 31 billion million in 2019 to more than 66 billion in 2023 worldwide;
the mobile ticketing turnover will almost reach EUR 152 billion worldwide in 2019 and will surpass EUR 300 billion in 2023;
in Europe, mobile ticketing will invoice about EUR 41 billion (27% of the global turnover);
digital ticketing billed via Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) worldwide will account EUR 583 million in 2019;
in Europe, less than 1% of the mobile ticketing market is paid through the operators invoice, (EUR 61 million);
the value of mobile tickets purchased via DCB will be around EUR 2 billion worldwide in 2024.
