Teller Capture Productivity Increase with Grayscale and Color Capture

Tuesday 12 April 2005 10:49 CET | News

Following preliminary tests of the Cheq-IT 4-50C Teller Check Image Capture Unit in the US during 2004 by Cheq Information Technology Inc., it was determined that the productivity of the device should be increased when used for color and grayscale capture of checks at a bank branch teller station or in a remote capture environment.

A project was established by the BUIC srl engineering team to improve performance without increasing cost. This project has now been successfully completed. Further, as a direct result of increasing the speed of color capture, grayscale and bitonal capture has also increased proportionally. Firmware Upgrade The development of the new faster firmware has been completed for the Teller Capture Unit Model Cheq-IT 4-50C (aka BUIC 380C) by the engineers at the BUIC Plant in Milan, Italy. The following are the latest test results completed during the first quarter, 2005. Test Details - Document type: US personal checks - 7 in length, with MICR (E13B) font - Document Feeder Type: Autofeed - Camera Technology: Contact Image Sensor - Image Capture: front & rear simultaneously - Capture Resolution: 200 dpi - Compression: JPEG - Personal Computer Interface: USB2.0 - Personal Computer Specifications: Pentium 4 @ 2.4GHz, 512 MB RAM From a teller productivity perspective color capture will now run at 1,800 items per hour. If Grayscale is chosen then the unit will run at over 3,600 items per hour. BUIC srl in conjunction with their US partner Cheq Information Technology Inc. are pleased to announce that this increase in productivity has been accomplished without any increase in the cost of the unit to the North American and Asia / Pacific Financial Industry Users. The upgraded unit gives users the opportunity to capture check images in Color, Grayscale or Bitonal. Corporate Treasury System Model Cheq-IT CTS4-50C The same upgraded unit is scheduled for installation in the Corporate System. This will pave the way for corporations to also take advantage of both color capture and grayscale image capture at these higher speeds.
