Tanzania Postal Bank to launch ATM card service

The Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) will soon launch a new debit cards services, after completing of installation of the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to all TPB branches countrywide.

At least 20 ATMs will be installed in strategic locations throughout the country, the bank plans to install ATMs in banking halls and outside banking premises. The debit card would enable bank customers to get various services that would be available through point of sales (POS) throughout the country. More than 1,000 POS, which would be installed in ordinary shops, hotels, supermarkets and other service outlets where purchases by using the bank’s cards would be honored. The cards can also be used at ATM with the Tanpay logo. Two banks in the country, TPB and the Federal bank of the Middle East (FBME) are the current members of Tanpay. It would be the first time in the history of the banking industry in Tanzania for two banks to share one ATM. Apart from TPB, other local banks, which provide ATM services, are CRDB, Barclays, NBC, Exim, Stanbic and Standard Chartered.
