Students order/charge meals at self-serve kiosk

Monday 18 April 2005 14:44 CET | News

Penn State University (PSU) in the U.S. has deployed the RMS-Kiosk an NCR RealPartner, self-service ordering solution at its York Campus.

C&L Retail Solutions, also an NCR RealPartner, is responsible for the sale and is providing installation and maintenance. Installed in January, the solution, which includes NCR RealPOS(tm) terminals and printers, NCR EasyPoint(tm) kiosks and RMS-Kiosk Customer Order Entry and POS software, allows students to order and charge meals to their PSU cards using a declining balance feature. Students place their orders on the kiosks, which account for all the extras such as topping a sandwich with cheese, bacon, olives or peppers. The RMS-Kiosk application can estimate wait time based on the number of people preparing the orders and can upsell each order through suggestive selling. Students then proceed to the cashier, who pulls up the order on the POS Dispatch Screen, to pay for their meals.
