News Launches New Smart Bidding System

Wednesday 10 December 2003 10:23 CET | News, has launched a new maximum bidding functionality for online merchants called Smart Bidding.

The new Smart Bidding System enables merchants to automatically adjust their bids within the Network in real time, making it easier than ever to manage customer acquisition campaigns on Shopping.coms Smart Bidding System ensures that merchants in the Network never pay more than $0.01 more than does the next highest bidder in a given product category. For example, if a merchant sets her maximum bid to $0.60 and the next highest bid is $0.45, her cost-per-click (CPC) will automatically be lowered to $0.46, and her ranking will be preserved. The Smart Bidding System also enables merchants to automatically maintain their product listings rank within the Network sites, without having to check each listings position every day. For example, if a merchant wants to stay in the top position, he can set a maximum bid at $0.55. Shopping.coms Smart Bidding System will automatically maintain that top position at the lowest possible CPC. If his CPC reaches $0.55, he will be notified and given the option to raise his maximum bid in order to stay on top. Effective today, all merchants current bids have become Smart bids. This will not raise merchants CPC in any category. In fact, Shopping.coms Smart Bidding System will lower the CPC each merchant pays automatically if the other bids in a given category are not as high as their current bids.
