Q Comm Launches Beta Version of Prepaid Application for the Verifone Omni 3750 Terminal

Wednesday 10 March 2004 15:42 CET | News

Q Comm has developed and begun beta testing a prepaid application for the Verifone Omni 3750 terminal that enables the electronic distribution of prepaid and related services over that terminal.

The Verifone Omni 3750 is a payment-processing terminal designed for merchant processing of credit and debit card payments. It also has partitioned memory to allow the independent coexistence of other applications such as Q Comms prepaid processing software. The company plans to have the Omni 3750 application available for commercial deployment in the third quarter 2004. Q Comm supports the Omni 3750 terminal with its proprietary backend transaction processing platform, proprietary POS firmware interpreter and POS software. The firmware interpreter and software can be loaded onto the terminal remotely over a standard phone line. Once the firmware interpreter and software are loaded, the terminal can be used immediately to sell any of the prepaid products in Q Comms product library including wireless, long distance, home dial tone, Internet, MasterCard and more, as well as the postpaid or bill pay services of Verizon, Sprint and others. Q Comm has extended the same support and many of the distinct features of its proprietary Qxpress 200 POS terminal to the Omni 3750 including: -- System power and reliability. In the case of the Omni 3750 and virtually any other hardware platform, including other payment processing terminals, cash registers, kiosks, and ATMs, each can be supported by the same, powerful backend and POS software as Qxpress 200. This enables the company to extend its power, reliability, flexibility and features across various hardware platforms while more easily developing support for them. -- Ease of use. Q Comm extends its user-friendly menu format to the Omni 3750. No memorization of codes is required. The Omni 3750 will also feature hot keys that enable the simple and speedy creation of the most frequently-used products with the single touch of a button. Also, after initial setup, new products can be easily added to the terminals over time without re-downloading POS firmware interpreters or software. -- Flexibility. Users of the Omni 3750 can choose to sell any of the many products maintained by Q Comm as well as their own. Users will also have their choice of text in English, Spanish, or French. -- Customization. Q Comm supports the Omni 3750 with a highly-qualified staff of software engineers and information technology professionals who can customize services for strategic customers. Q Comm does not outsource this work.
