PayShop, a leading provider of electronic bill payment services to the Portuguese market, is upgrading its terminals to the Omni 3750.

PayShop currently holds a stock of approximately 1300 Omni 3350 terminals, which are supplied to large and small retailers throughout Portugal, providing electronic bill payments services including pay-as-you-go mobile phone recharge and utility payments, such as water, electricity and gas. The terminals have been in continuous use since December 2001 and, due to the growth of PayShops business, are now being upgraded to VeriFone’s most successful terminal ever, the Omni 3750. Lisbon-based PayShop, which was recently purchased by Portuguese Post Offices, intends to use the enhanced functionality, memory and advanced communication technologies offered by the Omni 3750 to expand the value-added applications available on the terminal, increasing the service options and revenue opportunities available to its merchant customer base. The ability to combine payment and value-added applications securely on a single device makes the Omni 3750 the optimum device available in a rapidly changing payment environment. The Omni 3750 also offers a future-proof solution with field-replaceable Communication and Security Access Modules (SAMs), allowing additional secure smart card applications or communications options to be deployed as and when they are required, including modem, ISDN, and Ethernet communications for easy access to any IP-based network.
