The flexibility of element 5s e-commerce solution for online software sales, backed by its global reach and experience in providing e-commerce solutions to over 9,000 software publishers, facilitated a speedy integration with the Addit program. Addit, which is downloadable at (www.palmone.com/addit), features a catalog of Palm OS software. After the user downloads the application to their computer and synchronizes it to their PDA, the catalog is subsequently available directly via PDA at any time. Addit currently allows users to browse the most popular and relevant software titles in nine different categories and then purchase these products while they are offline. The application was developed by Bluefish Wireless, Inc., a platform provider for PDA applications. Bluefish and element 5 collaborated on integrating the order process into the application. When a user buys software using this program, the buyers contact and credit card data is stored in a password-protected area of the Addit application. The next time the PDA is synchronized with an Internet-connected computer, the application automatically sends this order and payment data to the element 5 system. After the transaction is complete, the purchased software is automatically uploaded to the PDA. In addition to processing the order data, element 5 also handles credit card authorization, billing, and software delivery in this process.
