The O.P.I. interface is an integral component of Wincor Nixdorf’s Windows and Linux-based TP.net, NAMOS Compact, TPLinux and POSition 6.0 checkout and store applications, thereby making it much easier to integrate payment solutions when it comes to ePOS systems, kiosk systems, outdoor payment solutions, self-checkout and self-service terminal solutions. 16 European card-based payment solution providers are now using the interface, also creating – for the first time – solutions based on the O.P.I. interface with functionality going well beyond the pure payment process. It is now possible, for example, to use O.P.I. to conduct what are known as “E-Top-Up services†for topping up prepaid mobile cell phones and gift cards at the checkout. Payment solutions providers who have implemented the O.P.I. interface so far are actó-soft GmbH (Germany), alphyra (Ireland), c.a.r.u.s. Retail Information Technology GmbH (Germany), DA SYSTEME GmbH (Germany), easycash GmbH (Germany), ELARA Software GmbH (Germany), EL-ME Aktiengesellschaft (Germany), ICP AG (Germany), logicgroup (UK), REA Card GmbH (Germany), Sagem Denmark (Denmark), SMART TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS LIMITED (UK), Telekurs Card Solutions (Switzerland), THALES e-TRANSACTIONS GmbH (Germany), treibauf AG (Switzerland) and trintech GmbH (Germany). Now that the interface has proved its capability in a large number of international customer projects, Wincor Nixdorf has set itself the objective of helping influence the creation of a European protocol standard, participating actively in standards bodies such as the IFSF (International Forecourt Standards Forum) and the newly launched European EPAS Project (Electronic Protocols Application Software).
