U.S. Bancorp subsidiary Nova Information Systems enters into a definitive agreement to purchase US-based payment software and gateway services provider Southern DataComm. The acquisition is to be completed in early February 2008. Stuart C. Harvey, Jr., president, NOVA explains that “their experience in the hospitality and multi-lane retail markets, combined with Novas recent completion of an International Processing Platform, will allow us to more quickly develop and deliver a best-in-class hosted global gateway platform.”

DataComm currently serves more than 50,000 merchants and each year, over USD 50 billion travels through its gateway switch, which supports 200 interface modules, helping merchants connect to acquirers and processors. Furthermore, in October 2007, Southern DataComm acquired eN-Concert, a series of payment solutions from Ingenico, thus penetrating the multi-lane retail market by adding signature capture, BIN file management, and in-store switch functionality.
