NCR Demos Evolutionary RFID Solutions at MARKETECHNICS

Offering a real-world glimpse into the future, NCRwill demonstrate how radio frequency identification(RFID) can be harnessed in the store, as well as in manufacturing and supply chain operations, at the Food Marketing Institutes MARKETECHNICS Show in San Francisco Feb. 29 through March 2.NCR (booth # 1416) will provide MARKETECHNICS attendees with a preview of potential RFID solutions, including: - An NCR FastLane self-checkout prototype that reads RFID tags as well as bar codes; - An NCR RealScan "hybrid" RFID/bar-code scanner, for conventional point of sale; - A demonstration of how the electronic product code (EPC) can be erased from RFID tags, as an approach to addressing possible consumer privacy concerns; - RFID data warehousing solutions from Teradata, a division of NCR, that provide context to information collected via an RFID system, on top of the ability to merge data with external information to further optimize retail decision-making; and - EPC-compliant printer/encoder technology, from NCRs Systemedia division, that enables on-demand thermal printing with RFID read and write capabilities to create labels that meet case- and pallet-level marking requirements. Representatives will also be available to discuss NCRs portfolio of RFID Store Services that leverage the companys consulting and customer services expertise and retail business experience.
