Morse Group Ltd. has been honoured with a 2004 IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Award for Best zSeries on Demand Solution by successfully implementing cost-effective on demand solutions for clients.

The IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Awards recognise IBM Business Partners that have excelled in providing quality e-business solutions and services to customers based on IBM technologies. The Best zSeries on Demand Solution award recognises the Business Partner that has achieved the greatest results in providing an on demand business solution to their customers. The winning company has successfully migrated multiple clients to IBM eServer zSeries with z/OS and z/VM and demonstrated year-to-year growth in the midmarket. Morse developed a solution to help Her Majestys Land Registry, the government department responsible for keeping and maintaining the Land Register of England and Wales, cost-effectively manage its highly variable workloads that are driven by the cyclical nature of house and land transactions. The solution, based on the IBM eServer zSeries z990 Processors with on/off capacity, allows the customer to provide extra capacity on demand. Morse also has implemented the z/OS and DB2 Parallel Sysplex data sharing to provide 24x7 availability, as well as WebSphere Application Server. In addition to the zSeries keeping costs in line with demand, the Registry utilises Workload License Charging, which provides a variable cost base for software dependent upon demand. Since the Registrys budget is directly proportional to the number of transactions it handles, an on demand solution keeps cost closely aligned with budget. The zSeries implementation has driven a significant return on investment that has enabled the continued growth of the project.
