MasterCard and Bank BRI Launch First Unembossed MasterCard Card Program

MasterCard and PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Bank BRI) have launched the worlds first unembossed MasterCard card program - the BritAma PrimeCard MasterCard Card. With this announcement, Bank BRI becomes the first issuer to launch this innovative offering under the new unembossed MasterCard program. The program combines the global acceptance of MasterCard and Maestro with the additional security of electronic authorization. The BritAma PrimeCard is being launched as a debit card and will be initially made available to all existing BritAma ATM Card holders. Following this, Bank BRI is looking at providing all its 25 million banking customers with this exciting product. It will provide cardholders with a significant enhancement to their current ATM card by allowing them not only to draw funds from their account, but also to make purchases at all MasterCard or Maestro merchants that support electronic authorization. By introducing an unembossed card into its portfolio, MasterCard is providing Bank BRI with the opportunity for greater customer segmentation and product customization. Customers currently using regular ATM cards will be upgraded to the BritAma PrimeCard and will therefore instantly be able to enjoy the extensive, international purchasing power associated with the MasterCard and Maestro brands. The BritAma PrimeCard builds on the benefits of the traditional ATM card by offering cardholders the convenience of making purchases through signature or PIN-based means at millions of electronic locations accepting the MasterCard and Maestro brands globally. In addition, the card can also be used at over 900,000 MasterCard/Maestro/Cirrus ATMs globally. Domestically, the card offers unparalleled acceptance at more than 500 Bank BRI ATM machines and all ATMs belonging to the Link and ATM Bersama networks. These benefits are succinctly summarized in the product’s positioning - "ATM Oke! Belanja Oke! PIN Oke! Tanda Tangan Oke! " (ATM OK! Shopping OK! PIN OK! Signature OK!). Bank BRI will be launching three types of BritAma PrimeCards - Classic, Gold and Platinum. Each card will be distinguished through the amount for opening deposit, minimum balance and ATM and POS transactions limits per day. The Platinum cardholders will enjoy preferential treatment at all Bank BRI branches. In addition, Bank BRI will also provide access to the executive airport lounges in selected cities in Indonesia.
