Kewill Adds AS2 connectivity to EDI E-Commerce Solutions

Tuesday 20 January 2004 09:37 CET | News

Kewill Solutions Europe has introduced AS2 Electronic Data Interchange (EDIINT/AS2) for use with supply chain business information over the Internet.

The companys widely used e-commerce solutions - including EasyTrade client software and the MessageBroker managed service - will incorporate the AS2 compliant technology from Cyclone Commerce, enabling real-time, secure transmission of EDI data. The first Kewill customers able to transmit their EDI data over the Internet will be the 650 plus supplier community of Asda, the UKs second largest supermarket chain which is currently undertaking a major roll-out of the new technology. Kewill expects additional major retail organisations to follow suit. AS2 is an internationally accepted communication protocol used to transport data over the Internet. It provides a highly secure standard for electronically sending and receiving business information with trading partners. Implementing this new EDI Internet connectivity, Kewill customers will benefit from lower communication costs over the public Internet compared to connecting via a Value Added Network (VAN). By transmitting EDI data over the Internet, users can increase the volume of their traffic quickly and at no extra cost once AS2 is installed. Connections are made in real time so the EDI data transmissions will be much faster. To offer the best available AS2 capabilities to its customers Kewill has selected to partner with Cyclone Commerce. With European headquarters in the U.K., Cyclone Commerce is a market leader in interoperable collaborative commerce solutions and co-authored the EDIINT AS1/AS2 standards.
