Q Comm International, a provider of prepaid transaction processing and electronic point-of-sale (POS) distribution solutions, has added a new broker, Keith Brown of Jarms LLC. Mr. Brown resides in San Antonio, Texas, and is a master distributor for Get-A-Phone home dial activations, a subsidiary of Usurf America.

Get-A-Phone offers prepaid home dial tone service in Bell service areas of Texas. Since being acquired by Usurf America in March of 2004, it has expanded its distribution network across the state of Texas. Get-A-Phone has recently authorized a new marketing campaign with a target focus on the large Hispanic market that exists in Texas. The campaign will include print and radio advertising. Near term plans also include expanding to the Florida market. Get-A-Phone offers competitive pricing and offers discounts to people who are subsidized on government programs such as social security, welfare, disability, and food stamps. Prepaid home dial tone, supported with in-person payments, serves the needs of the un-banked, recent immigrants, low-income families and those with temporary residences or summer homes. The activation of Get-A-Phone service is PIN-based. Get-A-Phone customers pay their monthly fees by a real-time transaction with the Get-A-Phone system. Q Comm has completed the engineering of its POS terminals to enable Get-A-Phone customers to pay these fees through Q Comm’s supported terminals. Mr. Brown, who has distributed between three and four hundred POSA terminals for a former vendor, said that there were a variety of factors that played in his decision to switch to Q Comm. He commented, “Having worked with other vendors in the POSA market, I appreciate that Q Comm offers better margins and a more extensive library of services than the industry norm. For instance, they offer 25 LD cards whereas most vendors offer only 3 or 4. Their customer service and distribution plan reduces our legwork and risk in expanding to new areas. As two quickly expanding companies, we have complimentary growth plans, and I see the relationship as a win-win for both of us.” Mr. Brown indicated that there are approximately 2,000 Get-A-Phone distribution points throughout the state of Texas.
