Internet Payment System Click&Buy Establishes an International Network

Bluewin, a subsidiary of Switzerlands largest Telecommunication provider Swisscom Fixnet, and Webpay International, have introduce the Internet payment solution Click&Buy in Switzerland.The launch of Click&Buy in Switzerland is scheduled for the 4th quarter 2004 at which time Swiss users will be offered the opportunity to buy worldwide, wherever Click&Buy is accepted. British Telecom is another Click&Buy licensee for Great Britain and Ireland, through an agreement signed in 2002. Together, British Telecom and Swisscom are the most important companies in the Click&Buy Network, besides FIRSTGATE Internet AG. The Swisscom and British Telecom alliances are steps toward development of a European-wide payment-standard for the web and for mobile devices. The Click&Buy Network today consists of approximately 2,800 content providers located in Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, United States, Austria, Netherlands, France and Spain. Well known content providers using the Click&Buy system include ABC Networks, UNICEF as well as large publishers such as The Financial Times, Gruner&Jahr, Tomorrow Focus AG, IDG, Encyclopedia Britannica, The Independent and many more.
