Ingenicos All-In-One IngeCab Solution For Taxis Wins Sesames Award

Presented each year at the Cartes show in recognition for outstanding innovation in the smart-card industry, the Sesames Awards are awarded by a panel of international experts in smart-card technologies. They have become the undisputed label within the industry. IngeCab, Ingenicos solution for the taxi industry, has been singled out by the Sesames jury as the best transport application. This solution is a world first for the taxi industry in that it combines and integrates all in-car functions - payment, metering, dispatch and communications — into a single system. This enables taxi companies to cut costs, since technologies are no longer duplicated, to save time and to enhance data management security. Launched in 2004, IngeCab is already being implemented successfully. As of September 2004, Ingenico announced three major programs in the Asia-Pacific region, involving Australia, Japan and Thailand. These programs have made considerable headway since then. 15,000 of the 25,000 cabs run by Cabcharge, a major taxi company in Australia, are already using IngeCab, while the rest of the fleet should be equipped with the system in 2005.
