Ingenico has launched a new range of payment systems supporting RFID and equipped to process MasterCard OneSMARTTM PayPass payments.

MasterCard OneSMART PayPass is a new contactless payment program that facilitates and accelerates payment at the point of sale. The new product is ideal for fast moving micro-payment environments where speed is essential, including quick-serve restaurants, gas stations, toll ways. All this represents a potential market of over 9 million points of transaction worldwide. Over the past few years, Ingenico has been heavily committed to developing terminals capable of reading contactless cards. According to Gérard Compain, Ingenico Chief Executive Officer, « We are convinced that RFID-based identification and payment systems will experience strong growth over the next few years, and we have prepared our systems to this technology. Ingenico is already involved in several RFID projects, notably in Ireland, Italy, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and the US. As with all programs and applications developed for one member of the iSeries terminal family, OneSMART PayPass has been developed within Ingenico’s UNICAPT TM 32 platform. It can be therefore processed throughout the entire family of new Ingenico terminals. Tests have been successfully conducted on Ingenico terminals using the Oberthur OneSMART PayPass card. As a consequence, Oberthur Card Systems and Ingenico plan to intensify their collaboration to tackle OneSMART PayPass opportunities.
